After 13 years, Snapchat has finally rolled out an update that brings native app support to the iPad.
Snapchat's latest update allows the app to run natively on iPad, utilizing the device's full screen for the first time. Until now, iPad users who wanted to use Snapchat had to run the iPhone version of the app, which was not optimized for the larger display, leaving it to run at a lower resolution with large surrounding black borders like other unoptimized apps. Snapchat for iPad app currently only supports portrait mode, meaning users cannot rotate the device to use the app in landscape mode. The update comes more than a decade after Snapchat's initial release on iOS back in 2011.
Snapchat now offers native support for iPad! This means that Snapchat will fill an iPad's full screen, providing you with a larger canvas when capturing Snaps and allowing you to see more friends on the 2nd and 4th tabs.
Earlier this year, Snapchat introduced several AI-powered features, including one called "My AI" that allows users to engage with an AI assistant to create reminders or start countdowns, either in a direct chat or within conversations with friends.
Snapchat continues to be available for free on the App Store and requires iOS 13 or iPadOS 13, or later.

...when many people don't want it anymore.
If that were the case, then how do you explain Snapchat growing Daily Active Users (DAUs), Monthly Active Users (MAUs), and Snapchat+ subscribers?
SANTA MONICA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Snap Inc. (NYSE: SNAP) today announced financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2024. “Our community grew to reach more than 850 million monthly active users in Q2, with more than 11 million Snapchat+ subscribers,” said Evan Spiegel, CEO. “We continued to scale our advertising platform with active advertisers more than doubling year-over-year. [ . . . ]
Q2 2024 Summary & Key Highlights We grew and deepened our engagement with our community:
- DAUs were 432 million in Q2 2024, an increase of 36 million, or 9% year-over-year.
- Q2 marked an important milestone for Snap, as we reached more than 850 million monthly active users (MAU).
- Snapchat+ reached 11 million subscribers in Q2.
A year ago, Snapchat reported 397 million Daily Active Users, 400 million Monthly Active Users, and a bit over 4 million Snapchat+ subscribers.

There is nothing to explain. My statement was literally true -- MANY people don't want it anymore. I didn't say "most" and I didn't say how many. Also, just because there are many users doesn't mean all of them need the app on the iPad? Your reply addresses/counters none of what I said.
In any case, there are stats saying that Snapchat is declining in popularity. There are conflicting accounts, probably due to different metrics, regions, biases, etc. I am uncertain what the exact truth is, but I am not taking Snapchat's word for it when its their own stats at a quarterly announcement. 😆

Article is misleading, it's on the iPad, it's on my mini right now.
